PAU UPDATES PCS PROBATIONERS ON AGRI CHANGING PRIORITIES IN PUNJAB

Ludhiana, September 16, 2016: The Directorate of Extension Education of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) organized a two-day institutional training for PCS probationers of Punjab. As many as 52 officers participated in the training programme.

While inaugurating, Dr P.S. Aulakh, Additional Director of Extension Education, highlighted training and extension components of PAU.

Dr Ashok Kumar, Additional Director of Research, deliberated on research achievements of PAU.

Dr J.S. Dhiman, former Additional Director of Research (Natural Resource and Plant Health Management), threw light on the changing disease scenario and integrated disease management strategies for different horticultural and field crops.

Dr R.I.S. Gill, Head, Department of Forestry and Natural Resources, shared his views regarding development and conservation of forest and natural resources.

Dr P.K. Chhuneja, an Entolomology expert, provided updates on emerging priorities and problems in insect-pest management of various crops.

Dr S.K. Jindal and Dr J.S. Brar delivered lectures on “Present status and future thrust for vegetable production” and “Diversification through fruit production,” respectively. Besides, the progress and prospects of apiculture in the state were also discussed. Later, an interactive session of the Probationer Officers with the members of PAU Kisan Club was conducted by Dr T.S. Riar and Dr (Mrs) Rupinder Kaur, Professors of Extension Education.

The participants were shown the field demonstrations on latest technologies at Plant Breeding Museum, Biotechnology Centre, Research Hall of Farm Machinery and Power Engineering, and Food Science and Technology Lab.
