PAU VC donates Rs 72.56 lakh towards CM Covid 19 relief fund
Ashu, while expressing gratitude to VC, assured that PAU’s contribution towards fund would go long way in fighting the crisis
Ludhiana: Continuing its efforts towards stemming the devastating effects of the Covid 19, the Vice Chancellor of Punjab Agricultural University and Padam Shri Awardee, Dr B.S. Dhillon presented a cheque of Rs 72,55,842 to the State Food and Civil Supply Minister, Shri Bharat Bhushan Ashu at Chandigarh, as relief for the Chief Minister’s Covid 19 fund.
It may be mentioned that the Vice Chancellor had donated his one month salary for the cause, while the senior university officers contributed one fourth of their monthly salaries and the university teaching and non teaching staff donated one day salaries. Meanwhile, PAU employees have been doing their bit by organizing relief measures by providing groceries, food, medicines and clothes to the migrant labourers and needy people.
Dr Dhillon stressed on the need for major funding to the state in order to fight the long drawn battle against the pandemic and for this, it is important for people from all walks of life to come forward for help. “PAU had played a vital role in ushering green revolution, thereby making the country food secure and eliminating hunger”, emphasized Dr Dhillon and added that each and every employee of the university once again is standing in solidarity with the citizens to help fight the pandemic.
