PAU VC uncovers book on rejuvenating Punjab; Dr Johl hailed the book as road map for future

Ludhiana, August 11, 2023: Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle, Punjab Agricultural University, organized an impressive event here to release a book: ‘Rejuvenating Punjab: New Economic World Order’.
Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor while releasing the book stated that each chapter of the book presents a beacon of hope that transcends the mundane and kindles the fire of aspiration. He described the book as captivating, enthralling, engrossing and enriching. Out of 31 chapters as many as 12 contributors are from PAU both faculty and students. Dr Gosal felicitated the editor and his team for bringing out a book on such an important topic that can go a long way in preserving the economic glory of Punjab.
The book edited by S. Jaspal Singh, former AGM, Punjab and Sind Bank, is an amalgamation of scholarly write-ups on varied topics such as farming, food processing, self-help business, electricity, water related matters, banking, debt, migration, crypto currency, environment etc. It is pertinent to note that Gurbani also encapsulates several essays on economic perspective.
In his presidential remarks, a celebrated economist Padma Bhushan and former Chancellor, Central University, Bathinda, Dr S. S. Johl advocated the book as a milestone in the field of economics. He discussed in detail the Kartarpuri Model of Development as advocated by Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji. Dr Johl emphasized on inclusive growth, cooperative culture and universal humanism as advocated by Sikh gurus. If Punjabis can do wonders in foreign lands why can’t they do here in Punjab, he challenged.
Jatinderpal Singh, Former Chairman, Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle Trust, threw light on the initiatives of Guru Ramdas Centre for Economic Growth (GRDCEG) and told about the noble impetus behind the publication of the book.
Dr Nirmal Singh Jaura, Director Students Welfare, PAU while welcoming the guests said that in the realm of literature the Guru Gobind Study Circle has contributed this book as a monument.
Dr Ramandeep Singh, Director, School of Business Studies, PAU discussed success stories in entrepreneurship in agribusiness and its changing dimensions. Contributors of book, KB Singh, former DGM, Punjab National Bank, Dr Harish Anand, Vardhman Group, Brij Bhushan Goyal, Banker and Philanthropist also shared their insights.
Dr Sarabjeet Singh, Professor and Head, Department of Agricultural Journalism, Languages and Culture, stated that with each turn of the page of the book, one is drawn into a world where ideas spring forth like sparkling gems inviting you to explore realms both familiar and uncharted. The editor S. Jaspal Singh shared the memorable experiences he had during the process of publication and acknowledged the contributions of eminent economists in taking Punjab to new heights.
Tejwinder Singh, President, GRDCEG, expressed his heartfelt gratitude towards the Vice-Chancellor Dr Gosal, Dr S.S. Johl and the other dignitaries for their impeccable support and inputs. He further mentioned that Ludhiana industry group is always ready to support the youth in providing them requisite guidance for initiating startup apps.
Eminent agriculturalists, industrialists, academicians, bankers and thinkers graced the occasion with their valuable presence. The programme started with a devotional hymn ‘Deh shiva bar mohe eh’ for seeking the blessings of the Almighty.
