PAU’s B.Tech Students bag top position in national level competition – TIFAN
The COAETian Innovators, a team of 25 members of the College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology (COAET), Punjab Agricultural University, won the top position in the National Level Competition - TIFAN 2023.
Ludhiana, June 9, 2023: The COAETian Innovators, a team of 25 members of the College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology (COAET), Punjab Agricultural University, won the top position in the National Level Competition - TIFAN 2023. TIFAN is a national level student activity in competitive form – Technology Innovation Forum for Agricultural Nurturing. The theme for this year’s activity was the development of an ‘Automated Multi-Vegetable Transplanter.’ The competition is organised by SAEIndia (Society of Automotive Engineers - India) and John Deere Limited, Pune. COAETian Innovators designed and developed Automated Multi-Vegetable Transplanter for SAEINDIA TIFAN-2023 and participated in the final round of competition, held at Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth (MPKV), Rahuri, Maharashtra.
A team of judges from John Deere, SAE India, Mahindra and Mahindra, Cummins and ARAI thoroughly evaluated the developed machine under static and dynamic field conditions. The judges highly appreciated the design and performance of the automated multi vegetable transplanter. Mr Karan, Captain of COAETian Innovators team along with Arshdeip Singh, Nihal Asati and Harshit Prashar explained the design, working and cost analysis of the developed machine. A total of 31 teams participated in the contest, out of which 20 teams had cleared the qualifying rounds to be eligible for the final round of evaluations. They were assessed for the viability and practicality of their designs. Team COAETian Innovators passed through a lot of testing times during this 10 month process.
Dr HS Sidhu, Dean, COAET, while congratulating the team, said that the PAU agricultural engineers have been performing consistently at all levels in academics and national level competitions too.
Dr Satish Kumar Gupta, Dr Anoop Dixit and Rohinish Khurana, faculty mentors/advisors of the team, shared that the students have manifested their ideas into practicality and exhibited the mind of budding innovators.
Karan, Arshdeip Singh, Nihal Asati, Harshit Prashar. Aryman Gupta, Ishan Bhardwaj, Vasudev and the rest of the team mates, who burnt the midnight oil and made this vision into a reality, extended a heartfelt gratitude to everyone who mentored them and all the support received from various quarters.
