PAU'S School of Business Studies welcomes B.Sc. (Hons.) ABM Batch with comprehensive orientation programme
The School of Business Studies at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, hosted an orientation programme for the new batch of B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture Business Management (ABM) students for the 2024-28 academic session.

The event began with a welcome speech by Dr. Ramandeep Singh, Professor-cum-Director of SBS, who introduced students to the university's various endeavours, including the Society for Advancement of Academics, Sports and Cultural Activities (SAASCA) and the Management Science Association (MSA). He emphasized the importance of emotional intelligence, discipline, and time management for personal and academic success, encouraging students to take full responsibility for their actions.
The orientation featured a session where students introduced themselves, sharing their diverse educational backgrounds, hobbies, and interests. Dr. Ramandeep praised the new students for their varied talents and stressed the importance of balancing academics with extracurricular activities. He highlighted the significance of networking and building relationships with industry experts and alumni, underscoring the value of professional growth through connections.
A motivational segment led by second-year Ph.D. students Nidhi and Aaina addressed the challenges of transitioning from school to university life. They provided practical strategies for managing academic pressures, social integration, and time management. They encouraged students to engage in extracurricular activities, utilize academic support systems, and prioritize mental and physical health.
Dr. Sandeep Kapur conducted a session on personality development, emphasizing the importance of adaptability and the "10,000-hour rule" for achieving mastery in any field. Dr. Khushdeep Dharni discussed the extension and placement activities at PAU, highlighting opportunities for students in both the private and public sectors, as well as in entrepreneurship.
Further insights were provided by Dr. Gagandeep Banga, who detailed the teaching and advisory system at PAU, and Dr. Babita Kumar, who shared information about the research system. Dr. Sukhmani discussed SAASCA activities and anti-ragging rules, while Dr. L.M. Kathuria provided an overview of the infrastructure at PAU and SBS. The programme concluded with Dr. Ramandeep's remarks on the various sports activities at PAU, followed by tea, refreshments, and a group photograph.
