Ludhiana, April 21, 2018: After the procurement of wheat, the payment of Rs 378.53 crore has been made through online mode till April 20 in district Ludhiana.

So far this year, in all the mandis of district Ludhiana, a total of 447711 Meters Tons (MTs) of wheat have been arrived, out of which 416550 MTs (94%) have been procured. The purchase, lifting and payment process is running smoothly.

Giving this information, Deputy Commissioner Mr.Pradeep Kumar Agarwal, Ludhiana said that under the special policy adopted by the state government, the process of procurement, lifting and payment of the wheat in the district Ludhiana was very smooth. The payments are being made to the farmers within 48 hours from the procurement of the wheat from them, so that the farmers do not have to worry about their payments. Till now, a payment of worth Rs 378.53 crores has been made through online mode across the district.

He said that out of 447711 MTs of wheat arrival in various mandis of Ludhiana district, PUNGRAIN had procured 100060 MTs, Markfed 101378 MTs, PUNSUP 68306 MTs, Warehouse 46448 MTs, Punjab Agro 36208 MTs, FCI 60992 MTs and private millers purchased 3138 MTs.

He said that the lifting of procurement of wheat is increasing day by day, in which 115857 MTs of wheat has been lifted from the district mandis till date. Giving details of the agency-wise lifting of the wheat, he said that PUNGRAIN has procured 24720 MTs, Markfed 30330 MTs, PUNSUP 22000 MTs, Warehouse 18840 MTs, Punjab Agro 9518 MTs, FCI 7,216 MTs, private millers have been lifted 3158 MTs.

Deputy Commissioner Mr.Pradeep Kumar Agarwal said that in comparison to the 8.46 lakh MTs of wheat procured last year through all the agencies in district Ludhiana, it is estimated that 9 lakh MTs of wheat likely be procured this year. Wheat procurement is continuing at all the mandis including the largest grain market of Asia's continent, Mandi Khanna.
