Jalandhar: PCCTU organized an emergent meeting of its office bearers via video-conferencing  to discuss an important issue of salary crisis of its teaching cadre across the state amidst COVID 19 scenario, Dr Bhram Ved Sharma –President  and Dr Sukhdev Singh Randhawa-General Secretary  strongly condemned college principals across the state for paying meagre salaries to college teachers in April month .Prof Ghanshayam Sharma –Vice President  and Prof Tarsem Singh Bhinder –GNDU area Secretary said that PCCTU has been regularly fighting and initiating fruitful dialogue with Punjab Government to facilitate expeditious release of salary grants to the colleges during past one year consistently but it was highly unfortunate that Principal Association of colleges had not even bothered to organize a single meeting with Punjab Govt regarding salary grants so far which is condemnable .Dr Vinay Sofat-EC Member and Ex-Gen Sec PCCTU said that with consistent efforts of PCCTU Punjab Govt has recently released Salary grant of Rs 90 crores, 70 lakhs and 72 thousands which has been credited to colleges accounts , therefore principals should pay proper salaries to teachers amidst corona crisis. Dr Sofat also apprised that  PCCTU has also taken up the issue of 1925 recruited teachers across the state working on nominal salary of Rs 21,600/- for the last 3 years but sadly Punjab Govt has not bothered to release its share of 75 percent till date to colleges and have adopted dilly dallying attitude .He warned that if this continues PCCTU will be constrained to organize strong agitation across Punjab when the lockdown is lifted .The office bearers thanked Sh Tipat Rajinder   Singh Bajwa cabinet Minister Punjab for releasing salary grant to colleges this month to sort the woes of teaching community in corona crisis.
