PCM S.D. College for Women celebrates Rashtriya Poshan Mah
PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar, marked the celebration of Rashtriya Poshan Mah with a series of awareness events organized by the Department of Home Science in collaboration with NSS. The 7th phase of this national initiative focused on themes like anemia prevention and fitness intervention, aiming to foster a healthier society.
Jalandhar, October 3, 2024: PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar, marked the celebration of Rashtriya Poshan Mah with a series of awareness events organized by the Department of Home Science in collaboration with NSS. The 7th phase of this national initiative focused on themes like anemia prevention and fitness intervention, aiming to foster a healthier society.
The celebration featured a guest lecture by Dr. Saloni Bansal, Pediatrician at Pal Hospital, on the topic "Anemia – Its Prevention." Dr. Bansal discussed the causes, symptoms, and treatment of anemia, with a focus on dietary interventions. She emphasized the importance of iron-rich foods, dark leafy vegetables, and Vitamin C-rich foods that help the body absorb iron effectively.
Students and teachers enthusiastically participated in various activities, including a Yoga session, highlighting the connection between fitness and nutrition. A Poster Making Competition on anemia and a Group Discussion on nutritional awareness regarding anemia prevention were also held.
President Naresh Budhia, Senior Vice President Vinod Dada, along with other esteemed members of the Managing Committee, and the Principal Prof. Dr. Pooja Prashar, congratulated the Home Science Department and NSS for their efforts in organising these impactful activities. They also stated that such initiatives are vital in educating young minds about health and nutrition, paving the way for a healthier future.
