Jalandhar, January 25, 2025: The NSS Unit, in collaboration with Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar, successfully organized a 7-day Special Camp at Village Patara and nearby areas. The camp aimed to promote social responsibility, environmental awareness, and skill development among students while fostering meaningful connections with the local community.

The camp began with a formal Inauguration Ceremony, followed by an Orientation Session to familiarize the volunteers with the objectives and planned activities. A wide range of impactful initiatives was conducted throughout the week. Volunteers led a Cleanliness Drive and organized awareness campaigns on sanitation and waste management, encouraging villagers to adopt healthier practices.

Skill development workshops were a major highlight of the camp. A Cosmetology Workshop empowered village women by providing practical beauty tips and makeup techniques, while the Best Out of Waste Workshop promoted creativity and sustainability through innovative recycling ideas. A Music Workshop trained villagers to sing the National Anthem, fostering a sense of patriotism. Additionally, a lively Gidda Dance Workshop brought together volunteers and villagers in celebration of Punjab’s cultural heritage.

The camp also emphasized environmental responsibility with Tree Plantation Drives involving students, staff, and local residents. Celebrations like Lohri were shared both on the college campus and in the village, strengthening community bonds through cultural performances and interactive sessions.

Educational engagement was further enhanced by a motivational lecture delivered by NGO Pahal, focusing on the dangers of E-waste to human health. The session highlighted the importance of recycling electronic waste and informed participants about various agencies dedicated to safe e-waste recycling. This informative session raised significant awareness among volunteers and villagers about responsible e-waste management.

Additionally, volunteers sensitized villagers about the My Bharat Portal, highlighting its numerous benefits. They explained how the portal serves as a valuable platform for youth engagement, offering opportunities in skill development, volunteering, and connecting with various government initiatives. This awareness drive encouraged villagers, especially the youth, to actively explore and utilize the resources available on the portal for their personal and professional growth.
Recreational and team-building activities were also organized to maintain volunteer enthusiasm and teamwork throughout the camp.

The camp concluded with a Closing Ceremony, where certificates were distributed to the volunteers, and heartfelt gratitude was extended to all participants for their involvement and support.

The 7-day camp not only provided students with a platform to engage in community service but also left a lasting positive impact on the residents of Village Patara, reflecting the true spirit of the NSS motto—"Not Me, But You."
