PCM SD College for Women holds Declamation Competition at Gandhi Jayanti
The History Association, in collaboration with Women Empowerment Cell, organized a Declamation Competition on the topic ‘Mahatma Gandhi’s Philosophy on Gender Equality and Women’s Rights’.
Jalandhar, October 1, 2024: The History Association, in collaboration with Women Empowerment Cell, organized a Declamation Competition on the topic ‘Mahatma Gandhi’s Philosophy on Gender Equality and Women’s Rights’.
The event aimed to explore and reflect on Mahatma Gandhi’s ideas regarding the empowerment of women and gender equality, providing a platform for students to share their insights on this relevant and stimulating subject.
Participants passionately articulated their understanding of Gandhi’s views on the role of women in society and how his philosophy of non-violence, self-reliance, and justice extended to the upliftment of women. They highlighted Gandhi’s belief in equal rights for women, his emphasis on education for girls, and his advocacy for women’s participation in social and political spheres.
Among the participants, Nazia from BA Semester I bagged first position and Gauri from the same class made it to second position and captivated the judges and audience with their compelling speeches, showcasing their depth of understanding and eloquence. Their thought-provoking presentations earned them the first place in the competition, a testament to their hard work and dedication to the topic.
President Naresh Budhia, Senior Vice President Vinod Dada, other members of the managing committee and Principal Prof.(Dr.) Pooja Prashar appreciated the department and the Cell for successful organization of this event in promoting awareness and dialogue on vital social issues, fostering a deeper understanding of Gandhi’s enduring legacy among students.
