Jalandhar, April 1, 2025: The P.G. Department of Commerce and Management, in collaboration with the Committee for Competitive Examinations of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar, organized a Career Awareness Session on "Career Opportunities as ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants)" via Google Meet. The session aimed to provide students with insights into the career prospects and benefits of pursuing ACCA.
The resource person for the session was Mrs. Sukhpreet Monga, a renowned expert with multiple credentials, including ACCA, CA, CPA, and CGA Canada. An experienced Auditing and Tax Consultant and Outsourcing Service Provider, she shared valuable insights into the importance of skill sets that cannot be replaced by artificial intelligence. She emphasized the necessity for ACCA professionals to develop competencies in interpreting financial statements and understanding the narrative behind financial figures.
Monga described ACCA as a comprehensive and globally recognized qualification that covers various domains such as costing, finance, accounting, auditing, law, leadership, analytics, and communication. Advising the students, she stressed the importance of identifying the gap between their current capabilities and their career aspirations, encouraging them to bridge this gap through continuous learning and skill development.
To enhance engagement, an interactive quiz was conducted to assess students' financial awareness and basic accounting knowledge. The students actively participated and performed well in the quiz.
Highlighting the lucrative career prospects of ACCA professionals, Monga informed the attendees that they can expect an initial salary ranging from Rs. 12-15 lakhs per year, with an annual growth potential of 10%. She also explained the flexible format of the ACCA program, which allows students to take exams in four sittings (March, June, September, and December), with results declared within 40 days. The qualification can be completed within two to three years, with pass percentages varying between 40% and 70%.
Monga emphasized that ACCA is recognized in over 181 countries and has more than 600,000 registered students worldwide. She compared ACCA with the CA course, highlighting ACCA's flexible syllabus and broader scope, making it a preferred choice in today's job market. She further noted that ACCA practitioners possess a wider spectrum of knowledge and can establish their careers in a shorter time frame.
A total of 67 participants, including students and faculty members of the P.G. Department of Commerce and Management, attended the seminar. The session provided comprehensive information about ACCA qualification and career prospects, particularly emphasizing the significance of financial reporting expertise and strategic thinking for success in the finance sector.
The session successfully demonstrated how ACCA certification equips students with the essential skills required for roles in financial analysis, strategic planning, and stakeholder communication—core competencies for future Chief Financial Officers and finance professionals in a dynamic global economy. Overall, it was an enriching learning experience for the students.
President Naresh Budhia, Senior Vice President Vinod Dada, other esteemed members of the managing committee, and the worthy Principal Dr. Pooja Prashar appreciated the efforts of the department in organizing this informative session.
