PCM S.D. College for Women Organizes ICSSR-Sponsored National Seminar on Entrepreneurship Development in Punjab
The Department of Economics, PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar, organized an ICSSR-sponsored National Seminar on "Sustaining Growth with Equity: Roadmap for Development of Entrepreneurship in Punjab" on March 29, 2025. Jalandhar, March 30, 2025: The Department of Economics, PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar, organized an ICSSR-sponsored National Seminar on "Sustaining Growth with Equity: Roadmap for Development of Entrepreneurship in Punjab" on March 29, 2025. The seminar provided an insightful platform for academicians, policymakers, and industry experts to deliberate on strategies for fostering equitable growth and entrepreneurship in the region.
The event began with a green welcome for the distinguished speakers, symbolizing the college’s commitment to environmental consciousness. Principal Dr. Pooja Prashar extended a warm welcome to the esteemed guests and participants, appreciating the initiative taken by the Department of Economics. This was followed by the inaugural address delivered by Dr. Divya Budhia, Head, Department of Economics, and Convenor of the Seminar.
The keynote address was delivered by Professor Anjali Mehra, Head, School of Social Sciences, and Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. She emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship in driving economic growth and reducing income disparities. She also highlighted the need for skill-based education and policy interventions to support budding entrepreneurs in Punjab.
The technical sessions featured distinguished experts from academia and industry.
Technical Session I included Neelam Mahay, Deputy Director, District Bureau of Employment and Enterprises, Jalandhar, who discussed various government initiatives and schemes available for entrepreneurs. Professor Tushinder Preet Kaur, Assistant Dean of Economics, Mittal School of Business, Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, elaborated on the role of digital transformation in business sustainability.
Technical Session II featured Mohd. Suhail, Founder, Athar Packaging Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Delhi, who shared his entrepreneurial journey, emphasizing resilience, innovation, and adaptability as key factors for success in the business world.
The seminar concluded with a valedictory session, where Professor Falendra Kumar Sudan from the Department of Economics, University of Jammu, delivered the valedictory address. He provided an in-depth analysis of the economic landscape of Punjab, emphasizing the need for inclusive growth strategies that bridge rural-urban divides and create sustainable employment opportunities.
More than 50 researchers contributed their papers for the seminar, enriching the discussions with their valuable insights. A Chapters in Edited Book with an ISBN number was also released, encapsulating research and discussions on the theme of the seminar, further contributing to academic discourse on sustainable growth and entrepreneurship.
As a token of gratitude, mementos were presented to all distinguished speakers and guests, acknowledging their valuable contributions to the seminar.
