Jalandhar, December 24, 2024: The Department of Dance and Music (Vocal) at PCM SD College for Women, Jalandhar, hosted a heartfelt tribute to the legendary tabla maestro, Ustad Zakir Hussain, in recognition of his unparalleled contributions to the world of music. 

Known for his extraordinary skill, creativity, and versatility, Zakir Hussain redefined the art of tabla playing, taking Indian classical music to unprecedented heights on the global stage. This event aimed to honor his remarkable achievements and inspire young artists to embrace the depth and richness of Indian musical traditions.

Zakir Hussain has been a trailblazer in blending classical and contemporary music styles. Over his illustrious career, he has received numerous accolades, including the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan, two of India’s highest civilian honors, as well as Grammy Awards for his collaborations in world music. His performances with globally renowned artists such as John McLaughlin, George Harrison, and Yo-Yo Ma have not only showcased the versatility of Indian rhythms but also created a new genre of fusion music that resonates with audiences worldwide.
