Ludhiana, August 11, 2023: PCTE Group of Institutes, a beacon of excellence in education, has once again carved its name into the annals of history. In an audacious endeavor to celebrate India's rich culinary heritage, the Faculty of Hotel Management and Travel and Tourism Management orchestrated a monumental feat - showcasing an astounding 405 variations of Golgappas. This unprecedented display, undertaken during the resplendent event "Salaam - e - India" 2023, was more than just an exploration of flavors; it was an expression of national identity.
Amidst an aura of enthusiasm and anticipation, PCTE Group of Institutes aspired to etch its legacy in the prestigious Limca Book of Records. These 405 incarnations of Golgappas were unveiled as a grand tribute to the tapestry of street food culture that thrives in every nook and cranny of our diverse nation. A celebration of the nation's vibrant culinary tapestry was achieved through the presentation of not only the versatile Golgappas but also a kaleidoscope of 100 street foods representing the 28 Indian States and 8 Union Territories.
This display of culinary prowess ranged from the traditional to the avant-garde - embracing the fusion of flavors and techniques that define modern gastronomy. The Golgappas on exhibit were an embodiment of innovation, showcasing diverse renditions including millet-based Golgappas such as Foxtail, kado, and little millet; fruit-based indulgences like aam ras and gulabkhas; and even the boundary-pushing non-veg Golgappas like chicken satay pickled prawns and mutton galoti. The dessert Golgappas, an epitome of culinary artistry, included creations like chocodip with coffee smoothie shot, kit kat and munch Golgappa with vanilla shot, and paan gulkand with gulbahar shot - each an invitation to a sensory journey.
Mr. Anirban Gupta, the visionary Dean of PCTE-IHM, eloquently shared, "India is not merely a land, but a mosaic of cultures. This event encapsulates the heartbeats of our nation through its culinary treasures. Our students have meticulously delved into each state's gastronomic heritage to curate these dishes."
