PCTE Group of Institutes celebrates Lohri Festival

Ludhiana: Girls adorned in the traditional phulkari suits, boys in Punjabi juti, consumer hub was organized where different food stalls & stalls exhibiting traditional culture were put by the students, the warmness of the bonfire brought in energy in the youngsters, students were dancing around the campus, teachers & students sang cultural Punjab folk songs - that is how PCTE Group of Institutes celebrated the Lohri Festival.
 
Lohri is a festival of Punjab, celebrated to mark the end of the peak winter season and is accompanied by Gachak, Peanuts, Jaggery etc. Thus, for people residing in Punjab Lohri Festival is of great significance to them. This harvest festival is celebrated to mark makar Sankaranti, bonfire, and dance. Lohri festival prompts people to be thankful for God’s provisions and to celebrate his creations.
 
Lanica Andreia, an International student from “Guinea Bissau” said, “It’s amazing to see how students got into the festive spirit and organized the entire celebration. India is a land of diverse culture, and I feel lucky that I could experience it here at PCTE.” Another student from Issa from Malawi said that it is his first year in PCTE and said that is has been a beautiful experience exploring Punjabi culture.
 
Ms.Richa Arora, PCTE Faculty said, “It was a great day to be on campus because everyone enjoyed themselves thoroughly. She added that the interesting fact was that the students organized the event themselves.”
 
Dr. KNS Kang, Director General, PCTE congratulated all and dwelled on the importance of this festival. He also added that the whole function was a scintillating bonanza of modern and traditional culture and heritage, and was glad that the students took initiative to celebrate.
