PCTE IHM achieves culinary greatness: World's largest wooden thali with 270 delectable dishes

Ludhiana, September 16, 2023: PCTE Group of Institutes is proud to announce that the Institute of Hotel Management and Travel and Tourism Management has earned a world record for creating the largest wooden thali. The feat was officially published by the Limca Book of Records, 2020- 22 edition. 

The largest Indian traditional style wooden thali named Atulniya Bharat, was 2.44m (8 feet) in diameter, had 270 authentic dishes representing the culture of 28 Indian states and Union Territories. The thali displayed three add-on dishes including a variety of sweets, chutneys and shorba (soup) crafted by a team of students and faculty members.

Anirban Gupta, the Dean of PCTE IHM, emphasized that this achievement underscores the institution's dedication to providing high-quality education and a relentless pursuit of excellence. He noted that every member of the PCTE faculty is fully committed to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary for success in their chosen careers. He further added that, “The Institution of Hotel Management and Travel and Tourism is proud of this achievement and looks forward to breaking more records in the future.” 

Dr. KNS Kang, the Director General of the PCTE Group of Institutes, extended warm and heartfelt congratulations to the team for their extraordinary accomplishment. He commended their unwavering dedication and hard work. Dr. Kang also expressed his deep pride in the faculty of Hotel Management and Travel and Tourism for their steadfast commitment to achieving excellence.
