PCTE students won ‘Smart India Hackathon 2020’ for presenting nap-pads (sanitary napkins made of Banana Fibre)

Ludhiana: ‘Smart India Hackathon 2020’ declared PCTE Group of Institutes’ Students as Joint Winners for their startup known as Nap-Pads under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affair.


Smart India Hackathon is a nationwide initiative to provide students with a platform to solve some of the pressing problems we face in our daily lives, and thus inculcate a culture of product innovation and a mindset of problem-solving.


Out of 10 lakh students they have proved their mettle by standing apart. The event started back in 2020 where 5,635 ideas were selected out of more than 10 lakh applications after undergoing three rounds of stringent evaluation Nap-Pads is declared as one of the winners.


Nap-Pads presented the Sanitary Napkin made out of Banana Fibre. Where some find it taboo to talk about, these girls went one step further by making the product eco-friendly and affordable. Aditi and Daman Preet Kaur both have worked really hard to make it a success and have shone like a star under the constant guidance of the Institue.


Prof. Naresh Sachdev, Dean of Corporate Relations, said that this is a big achievement for PCTE E-Cell, not even a pandemic could hamper the entrepreneurial spirit of these students. The journey started way back in May 2020 and the entire team has put in their best efforts to achieve this. 


Dr. KNS Kang Director-General said these competitions encourage the students to push themselves beyond the boundaries thereby setting them apart from the crowd. He congratulated the team by saying that they have set an example for everyone else out there.
