PDP Entitled Application of MATLAB and LaTex Software ends at Doaba College
Jalandhar, January 16, 2023: P.G. Department of Mathematics and P.G. Department of Computer Science & IT, Doaba College, Jalandhar, organized DBT, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India sponsored 7day (PDP) on "MATLAB for Life Sciences and Writing Skills with LaTex" to enhance the programming skills, analysis capabilities and writing skills which help the students, researchers and faculty to learn MATLAB from industry perspective point of view and write effectively using LaTeX.
In second schedule of 7 day PDP Dr. Rachna, Assistant Professor, University of Jammu, Jammu, graced the occasion as resource person. She was accorded a hearty welcome by Principal Dr. Pardeep Bhandari, Prof. Arvind Nanda- Head, Dr. Rajiv Khosla- Overall DBT Star College Scheme Coordinator, Prof. Gulshan Sharma- DBT Scheme Coordinator, Dr Bharti Gupta-Programme Coordinator , faculty and students.
Principal, Dr. Pardeep Bhandari, discussed the use of innovative techniques, technology and mathematical softwares to make mathematics more interesting. He also expressed that this resourceful program will prove asset to the participants. He also appreciated the efforts of the organizing committee and motivated for continuing such efforts in future also.
Dr. Rachna gave the introduction of Latex with installation and updating of packages in MikTex. She explained in detail the document writing using LaTex viz adding packages, sections, math symbols, figures, tables, equations, adding environments like enumerate, array, align, itemize. She also explained how we can add references using bibliography in LaTex. Dr. Rachna discussed the research paper writing, question paper setting using LaTeX. In her last session, Beamer presentation in LaTeX was executed with different beamer styles and color themes.
The participants were given hands on learning in solving MATLAB programs and making document using LaTex in Computational Mathematics Laboratory. The PDP was concluded with submission of assignments and quizzes on MATLAB and LaTex given to the participants. 40 research scholars and students participated in this PDP programme.
