Peace Meeting held against Russia -Ukraine War
Prominent people from all walks of life participated in the meeting
Chandigarh, March 4, 2022: All India Peace And Solidarity Organisation (AIPSO ) Punjab & Chandigarh organized a Peace Meeting today at Plaza in Sector 17, Chandigarh against the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. This war has brought destruction and huge loss of human lives and displacement of millions of common people.
Prominent people from all walks of life participated in the meeting. A good number of lawyers from Punjab & Haryana High Court, District Court, University & College Professors, Theatre Artists and social workers were present. The participants held play cards in their hands with slogans such as stop war solve issues through dialogue, war brings destruction peace brings development & prosperity, AIPSO stands against war, disband all military alliances.
R. L. Moudgil, General Secretary, AIPSO while addressing the participants said that AIPSO is in principle against war in any part of the world. He elaborated that there may be many justifications or provocations but despite all that war is no solution as it only brings sufferings to humanity especially common people, women and children. He condemned the expansion of NATO by America & West European nations.
Harchand Singh Batth, Senior Advocate, Punjab & Haryana High court and Deputy General Secretary, AIPSO stated that Russia and Ukraine should immediately agree for ceasefire to save further human and material damage. He criticised the failure of Central Govt. for not acting timely and resorting to populist and propaganda policy instead of rescuing the students from within Ukranian territory to bring them back safely. He explained how US imperialism has been creating its military bases in all corners of the world and expanding NATO area of operation to target its opponents. He explained in details the destructions caused by various wars the world over.
Sajjan Singh, Vice President AIPSO & leader of Bank staff called upon all peace loving people to strengthen the peace movement against any sort of war anywhere in the world. Jaspal Singh Advocate, General Secretary AIPSO thanked the participants for supporting the noble cause of peace against war. He assured that AIPSO units all over the country are conducting peace marches in every city to enlist support against the war.
Satnam Singh, Anti-Corruption Movement activist, Lovenit Thakur, Advocate Beni Thomas , Advocate also addressed. Prof. Rabindernath Sharma, Ex. Senator, Panjab University presided over the meeting . He called upon the media to take the message of peace against war to every house. He demanded that the Indian government should use its diplomatic channels for immediate ceasefire.
