People of Punjab suffer due to poor condition of government hospitals: Jarnail Singh

Ludhiana: In order to save people from Corona and save Punjab government from its failure to tackle COVID,  Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) led by  Punjab Prabhari Jarnail Singh, Deputy Leader of Opposition and MLA Sarbjit Kaur Manuke and MLA Jai Singh Rouri launched Oximeter Campaign today (Friday) from local Ghanta Ghar (Main Market) from Ludhiana district. Jarnail Singh, Manuke and Rouri went door-to-door to check the oxygen level of shopkeepers and general public with utmost care and explained the importance of oxygen level for prevention of corona as well as distributed awareness kits for prevention of corona.

On this occasion, they were accompanied by Jeewan Singh Sangowal, Amandeep Singh Mohie, Rajinderpal Kaur, CA Suresh Goyal, Haibab Singh Grewal, Ravinder Pal Singh Pali, Satwarg Singh Gill and others.

Jarnail Singh blamed Chief Minister Amarinder Singh as well as all previous Congress and SAD-BJP governments for the uncontrollable corona epidemic.

Sarbjit Kaur Manuke said that if all previous governments including Amarinder government had not pampered private health mafia instead of improving government hospitals and dispensaries, people would have had faith in government health services today and there would not have been large number of deaths due to Corona. The AAP leader said that with a death rate of 2.9, Punjab was in the worst situation in the country

Comparing Delhi and Punjab, Jarnail Singh said that while 14 per cent of the total budget is spent on government health services in Delhi, it is 4 per cent less in Punjab. This is the reason why government hospitals and dispensaries in Delhi outperform private hospitals and our government hospitals here in Punjab do not have the required medicines and doctors along with support staff.

As a result, as compared to 10,000 active (positive) patients in Delhi on September 17, the death toll was 38 in Delhi as compared to 54 in Punjab.  More than 23 lakh tests had been conducted in Delhi till yesterday, while Punjab could not do even 15 lakh so far.

The number of covid beds in Delhi hospitals is 14521 while Punjab has arranged only 8854 beds. There are 594 Special Covid Health Care Centers in Delhi while no such center has been set up in Punjab.

Jai Singh Rouri also demanded the Chief Minister to get out of the farm house and invest heavily in the public health sector and build confidence of public in the government hospitals.

Jai Singh Rouri said that if the people voted for AAP government in 2022, the dependence of the people on the private sector in the field of health and education would be eliminated as has been done in Delhi.
