Performing Arts’ students of Lovely Professional University to perform at Punjab Natshala Amritsar
The drama is "Bali Aur Shambhu", written by Bollywood star & playwright- Manav Kaul
Jalandhar, December 23, 2022: Ten students from the Department of Performing Arts of Lovely Professional University will perform at ‘Punjab Natshala’ in Amritsar on 25th December 2022, from 6 pm onwards. Students are to act for stage-play "Bali Aur Shambhu", written by Bollywood star & playwright- Manav Kaul. The duration of the drama is 1 hour and 40 minutes.
Manav Kaul is an Indian theatre director, author, actor and filmmaker. He was nominated for the Filmfare Award for being ‘Best Supporting Actor’ for his role in the films Tumhari Sulu (2017) and Saina (2021).
"Bali Aur Shambhu" is the story of two old age people- Bali and Shambhu, who live in an old age home. The expressions of two completely opposite characters and their different attitudes towards life are woven in the story. Symbolically, Bali believes in taking life as it comes; while, Shambhu lives in his past. With their different ideologies, and after a series of complicated confrontations, the two eventually become one.
A young lady doctor is also there, who believes that old people need guardians like children with whom they can share their thoughts. The play is full of emotions, comedy, tragedy and drama which is a replica of common life.
The play is directed by Shivam Rai and Prakash Deep Singh, who are working at Indian Film Industry as writers and directors. Having keen understanding of cloth, context, and creation; Assistant Professor at LPU Ashiya Madar has designed costumes for the play. Some of the participating LPU students are Varsha Tiwari, Aman, Manjinder Singh, Harkamal Preet Singh, Parvinder Kaur, Tejas Sharma. Maheep Inder Singh is the music director.
LPU’s Department of Performing Arts is committed to artistic excellence and research-based teaching through training sessions, demonstrations, shows, industry projects, workshops by top academicians and industry experts. Bollywood's renowned director Mahesh Bhatt was also at LPU for his play ‘Baat Niklegi Toh’.
