Personality development sessions for UHF students
The Students Welfare Organization of the Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry (UHF), Nauni organized a two-day personality development programme for B Sc and MBA students. The objective of the training was to teach the participants to work with various professionals and groups and enhance the communication and interpersonal skills of students. The Department of Business Management of the University coordinated the programme. Over 150 students of B Sc (Hons) Horticulture and first-year MBA students attended the training. Students’ Welfare Officer Dr Kulwant Rai Sharma inaugurated the programme and discussed the role and importance of personality in career building. He was of the view that the modern competitive job scenario demands good personality and communication skills. He added that these skills have become necessary for a successful career as it helps to develop an identity and leave a long lasting impression on others. Manjula Sularia, CEO and Life Skills Coach of the Chandigarh based ‘The Transformers- Value Creators conducted the training through different indoor and outdoor sessions. Various topics like confidence and attitude building, behaviour and mannerism, personality and grooming, employability skills, communication, emotional intelligence, team building and effective leadership were covered during the sessions. Practical sessions and student engagement activities were also held. Programme co-ordinator Dr KK Raina also spoke on the occasion and urged the students to implement the skills learned at the training to improve their confidence, patience, communication and social skills. Dr Piyush Mehta and Dr Nisha, Faculty of Business Management department and Dr Vineet Kumar Sharma were also present during the programme.
