Ludhiana, January 22, 2023: Department of Psychiatry, DMCH organized a two day PUNCIP CME ‘PUNCIPS-2022 on the theme of Back to basics- Nosology & Phenomenology at Club Nirvana Hambran Road, which was attendant by wide range of Psychiatrics and PG students from all over the region.

The CME was formally inaugurated by Secretary DMCH Managing Society Prem Kumar Gupta along with Principal Dr Sandeep Puri, Vice Principal Dr G S Wander, Medical Supdts. Dr Ashwani K Chaudhary, Dr Sandeep Sharma, Dr Bishav Mohan and all faculty members of Department of Psychiatry were present on the occasion.

In his message, Secretary DMCH Managing Society Prem Kumar Gupta lauded the efforts of Department of Psychiatry to conduct this CME which highlighted importance of mental health and need to have more Psychiatrists.

Organizing Chairperson- Dr Navkiran Mahajan (Professor Department of Psychiatry) extended warm welcome to the dignitaries and participating delegates. In her address, Dr Mahajan said that this CME provides an opportunity for psychiatrists to enhance their clinical and academic skills. The event provides an opportunity to PG students from across north India to learn from senior faculty coming from various parts of the country.

Chief Organizer & Co- coordinator- Dr Ranjive Mahajan (Professor & Head Department of Psychiatry) said that this CME covers many issues pertaining to psychiatric examinations and clinical diagnosis which will be very beneficial for the new PG trainees.

Organizing Secretary- Dr Rupesh Chaudhary (Professor Department of Psychiatry) highlighted the theme of CME Back to basics- Nosology & Phenomenology have a vital role in the field of Psychiatry which help to improve the clinical as well research skills and provide better outcome for the PG Academics also. He also added more than 100 postgraduate students from 20 Medical Colleges were participated in this CME.

Various scientific sessions and workshops including Psychiatric Examinations: Beyond History and MSE, Problem & Challenges faced interviewer/New PG Trainees, Historical Perspective on Phenomenology and Psychopathology in Psychiatry, Testing of Cognitive functions made this CME more interactive.

Dr Pankaj Kumar (Associate Professor Department of Psychiatry) actively participated in organizing this CME.
