PG Department of Computer Science and IT organized Orientation Programme at Lyallpur Khalsa College

Jalandhar, September 25, 2024: PG Department of Computer Science and IT of Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, hosted an engaging and inspiring Orientation Programme for the newly admitted students of the department.

The event was designed to welcome and integrate new students into the college. The programme started with a holy Shabad and followed by an address by the Vice Principal of the college Prof. Jasreen Kaur, who extended a warm welcome to the students and congratulated them on their choice to pursue their studies at Lyallpur Khalsa College. In her address, she encouraged the students to strive for excellence in their fields. She encouraged the students to get the best of the opportunities and bravely face challenges that lie ahead.

Principal Dr. Jaspal Singh in his message motivated them to excel in the domain of Computer Science, as its branch AI is rapidly emerging and quite relevant in the modern world. He insisted upon the prime role of humility in learning. A detailed presentation about the college and the department was presented, throwing light on the different courses run by the department, introducing students to the Teaching and Non- Teaching staff, various curricular seminars, workshops and events regularly organized by the department and other major achievements of the students of department. A special students committee, Techno-Students Association, a representative group of all the Computer Students, was also formally declared. The selected members are Shweta (President), Nikita, Manjot Kaur, Balpreet, Komal Paul, Jay Rana, Sharanpreet Kaur, Pooja Kumari, Arshpreet Kaur, Shakuntala and  Sarabjeet Kaur. Adding a touch of festivity, the program included a lively cultural segment featuring various performances. Students showcased their talents through choreography on students’ teacher relationship and dance. A modeling competition also held during the event, raising the enthusiasm in the students. Sahibjeet Singh from BAJMC Sem-1 was adjudged as Mr. Fresher and Ms. Palakdeep Kaur from BCA Sem-I as Ms. Fresher. Talib Bashir from PGDCA Sem-1 as Mr. Confident, Pooja Kumari from BAJMC Sem-1 as Miss Confident, Eva from PGDCA Sem-1 was Miss Best Dressed and Kawan Sidhu BCA Sem -1 was Mr. Best Dressed. A testimonial session was also conducted in which the new students shared their experience in the college.

Towards the end, Head of the Department, Prof. Sanjeev Kumar Anand,  warmly thanked students and shared his insights on the evolving landscape of Computer Science and the importance of staying innovative and committed to learning. He assured the students of the department's support throughout their academic journey.

The occasion was witnessed with the presence of Registrar of the college, Prof. Navdeep Kaur as special guest along with Prof. Sandeep Bassi, Prof. Mandeep Singh Bhatia, Dr. Sandeep Singh, Dr. Manpreet Singh Lehal and Prof. Navneet Kaur and teaching and non-teaching staff members of the department. The stage was beautifully handled by Dr. Daljit Kaur and Prof. Jasdeep Singh.
