New Delhi, November 25, 2022: While Addressing all industry stakeholders and participants at Chhattisgarh Business Summit 2022, Dr.Shiv Kumar Dahariya, Cabinet Minister, Urban Administration & Development and Labour Department congratulated PHDCCI for organizing  such an insightful event and also mentioned the great possibilities and benefits which states has to offer to new industries and investors.

Dr. Shiv Kumar Dahariya, Hon'ble Minister of Urban Administration & Development and Labour Department, Government of Chhattisgarh,  appreciated PHDCCI for organizing an incredible summit for promoting business as well as tourism of Chhattisgarh. He welcomed private players from all spheres of life to come and invest in Chhattisgarh and assured full government support and handholding to the new investors and visitors through different initiatives and schemes.

He emphasizes the great possibilities and benefits which states has to offer to new industries and investors. Government is working in this direction with full capacity to attract good business opportunities, added Dr.Shiv Kumar Dahariya. Chhattisgarh is a land of possibilities and new opportunities. With the presence of immense resources, minerals , raw material and a wide range of minor forest produce etc. states provide a wide scope of business setups and new ventures , said Dr.Shiv Kumar Dahariya.

Him Shikhar Gupta, Special Secretary (Independent Charge), Department of Commerce and Industries, Government of Chhattisgarh, highlighted that Chhattisgarh is relatively a new state with its history going back to just 23 years, before which it was a part of Madhya Pradesh. The New industry policy initiated by the Government of Chhattisgarh has come up with is now aimed at giving extra benefits to the investors.

For any investment of Rs100 crores, and above, the State Promotion Investment Board, Govt of Chhattisgarh, offers bespoke benefits to the investors, which will be tailor-made to the specific industry with a long term benefit, said Mr Him Shikhar Gupta
For some specific sector the investor can take advantage of the bespoke policy with an investment amount of Rs 25 cr and above, added Gupta.

We have a vibrant start up strategy to promote start-ups in the state, along with prioritization policy for industries which is drafted to ensure that the high priority industry gets the requisite support from the government. Also the government is promoting the rural industry and handicrafts sector, for which the government is planning to set up around 300 rural industrial parks throughout the state which will help the economic development of the state.

He also mentioned  the geographical advantages of the state which enjoys one of the largest forest cover in the country and bordered by 7 states and the stat also takes pride in the prominent colleges that are situated in the state, like the IIMs, which will aid in curtailing the concern of skilled manpower in the Indian Economy, added Gupta.

S S Bajaj , Managing Director ,Department of Minor Forest Produce, Government of Chhattisgarh, highlighted some prominent facts of Minor Forest Produce co-operatives which have 1.35 million members. It has a turnover of Rs 1000 crore. Government is working on the key areas like sustainable harvesting, warehouses, procurement portals for trade.

We have Van Dhan Vikas Kendra’s run by women self-help groups. Women empowerment is the key area. From collection to procurement all is done by women’s SHGs. Government is investing in their capacity building and training g programs.

In terms of business opportunities in Minor Forest Produce, we have a variety of 350 products including ayush and other categories available in the market.

P Arun Prasad, Prasad (IFS), Director-Rural Industries, Government of Chhattisgarh, emphasises on the rural industries of handicrafts, handlooms, terracotta and sericulture. He said that our products are very valuable because they add uniqueness to the market.

He mentioned that the sector has more than 57000 registered manpower in handlooms and more approx. 25500 manpower engaged in handicrafts. All our focus is to now export our products to the global market as they possess immense potential and scope.

Prateek Singh, Co-Chair, PHDCCI, Chhattisgarh  Chapter, appreciated PHDCCI for its close working relationship with the Govt of Chhattisgarh. He appreciated EoDB in the state in the last 3 years under the dynamic leadership of the Hon’ble Chief Minister. The govt is now working proactively towards upliftment of the industries in newer avenues other than the traditional industries of food processing, mining and forest reserve.The government has walked the extra mile shoulder to shoulder with the industry to ensure providing the support for the industry during the crucial times of the pandemic.
