Photography best tool to conserve and protect nature

Kapurthala, June 15, 2022: Pushpa Gujral Science City celebrated Nature Photography Day by organizing an exhibition on “Nature Photography” to create awareness and motivate general masses about the Nature. Photographs by renowned photographer Karmvir Singh Sandhu and Sarbjit Pandher were exhibited at this occasion.

Speaking on this occasion, Dr.Neelima Jerath, Director General, Science City said that Nature Photography Day is celebrated every year on 15th June to promote the enjoyment of nature photography as well as, to explain how images are used to advance the cause of conservation and protect plants, wildlife, and landscapes both locally and globally. Photography is a beautiful art that really brings us closer to the world we live in and the view through the camera’s lens helps us catch it every day. She emphasized upon using occasion as an opportunity to get out into the world and take a closer look at it than before  and also, capture it for the memories.

Karmvir Sandhu was also present on this occasion. He shared his experiences while capturing the nature photographs on different species of butterflies. He said that Nature photography is a very powerful tool for the preservation of Nature in all its forms.  He further said that lockdown played a very vital role to restore the earth’s depleting resources. The drop in pollution and noise levels boosted the butterfly population in several places across the country.

Dr. Rajesh Grover, Director, Science City speaking at the occasion said that world is full of so much gorgeous natural beauty and wonder, however, it is important to embrace it as much as possible. Further, one of the best ways of being able to admire and experience the supreme magnificence of the natural world is to capture it on camera.
