Plan to hold milk adulteration testing camps

Chandigarh, September 9, 2012: The Punjab Dairy Development Department has decided to organize milk adulteration testing camps in each district of the state with a view to provide quality and unadulterated milk in the state besides launching a campaign to make aware the people about the quality of milk.

Disclosing this here today, Gulzar Singh Ranike, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Minister, Punjab said that for this purpose Punjab Government has provided 8 mobile vans for taking samples of milk so that unadulterated milk could be provided to the masses.

Ranike said that orders have also been issued to organize surprise camps for taking samples of milk and to check their quality besides adulteration.  He said that during these camps on the spot quality of milk would be checked by experts of the department while the test reports would also be provided to consumers on the spot. He said that where these mobile vans are adequate for testing of milk samples there these would also be able to test the quality of fodder.

Further, he said that the department has chalked out a special program under which at least 30 to 50 milk adulteration testing camps would be organized in each district of the state.
