Plantation drive at PU
Plants of Lagerstomia, Ashoka and Chandni planted
Chandigarh: The Horticulture Division, Panjab University organised a plantation today near UIET Workshop.100 plants of Lagerstomia donated by Sh. Jatin Salwan were planted along with plants of Ashoka and Chandni. The plantation had the presence of Prof. R.K. Singla, Dean of University Instructions as the Chief Guest . Prof. Karamjeet Singh, Registrar presided over the plantation. Prof. Parvinder Singh, Controller of Examinations was the Guest of Honour.
Prof. Ashwani Koul, Chief of University Security and faculty members of Deptt. of Biotechnology, Ms.Renuka Salwan, Director Public Relations were among the attendees.
Er. Anil Thakur, Divisional Engineer (Hort.) said on this occasion that the plantation drive of Horticulture Division carried out in the monsoon season is in full swing and various departments are participating enthusiastically in this drive. He further said that in pursuance of the initiative of Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, the Horticulture Division is also carrying out the family plantation drive in the university in which a large number of residents are taking the initiative to plant the trees along with their family members.
