The Horticulture Division of Panjab University on the occasion of Van Mahotsav today organised a plantation drive near Centre for Nuclear Medicine, Panjab University South Campus.
Chandigarh, July 11, 2024: The Horticulture Division of Panjab University on the occasion of Van Mahotsav today organised a plantation drive near Centre for Nuclear Medicine, Panjab University South Campus.
The plantation drive was inaugurated by Prof. Renu Vig, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University. More than 170 nos. trees and shrubs of different varieties like Sita Ashok, Barna, Hamelia, Chandni, Ficus, MolsariAlstonia, and Arjun were planted. Prof. Rumina Sethi, Dean of University Instructions; Prof. Y.P. Verma, Registrar; Prof. Jagat Bhushan, Controller of Examinations; Prof. Sukhbir Kaur and other Fellows; Prof. Amit Chauhan, Dean Student Welfare; Prof. Simrit Kahlon, Dean Student Welfare (W); Chairpersons of various departments; Wardens of various hostels; Bhupinder Singh Range Officer, Forests Department Chandigarh Administration; Representatives of PUTA, PUSA (NT) and other employees unions graced the occasion. Those present appreciated the initiative of Horticulture Division.
Er. Anil Behal, Executive Engineer-II apprised those present that Horticulture Division organises such plantation drives every year, particularly on such days like World Environment Day and Van Mahotsav to spread awareness about the environment among the masses.
Prof. Renu Vig was deeply impressed with the efforts of the Horticulture Division and extended her best wishes for future plantation drives in monsoon season.
