Plantation drive under Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam Campaign
Stem Cell Tissue Engineering and Biomedical Excellence, Chemical Society Department of Chemistry, Panjab University (PU) and NCC 1 CHD Girls Battalion today conducted plantation drives under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign with the assistance of PU Horticulture Department.
Chandigarh, September 23, 2024: Stem Cell Tissue Engineering and Biomedical Excellence, Chemical Society Department of Chemistry, Panjab University (PU) and NCC 1 CHD Girls Battalion today conducted plantation drives under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign with the assistance of PU Horticulture Department.
The initiative was launched by Prime Minister of India on the World Environment Day to aim for planting the trees in the honour of the mothers. The main focus is to symbolise love and gratitude towards the nurturing role of the mothers and the mother Earth.
The “Tree Plantation Drive” at the Centre for Stem Cell Tissue Engineering and Biomedical Excellence, Panjab University, Chandigarh was marked by the presence of Chief Guest Prof. R.C. Sobti and former PU Vice Chancellor, Guest of Honor Director UIET Prof. Sanjeev Puri. The staff, research scholars and faculty participated with great fervour and enthusiasm.
The plantation drive by Chemical Society Department of Chemistry and NCC 1 CHD Girls Battalion was conducted under the successful guidance of Prof. Navneet Kaur, President of Chemical Society and Dr. Shweta Rana CTO, 1 CHD Girls BTN. Several samplings were planted by the students of the Department of Chemistry and the NCC girls cadets on the occasion. Mothers of the students and cadets were the special guests in the event. Prof Sonal Singhal, Chairperson, Department of Chemistry had motivated the students to work together towards combating climate change and preserving and mother Earth for future generation.
