Plantation drive using some soil from Bajrang Post started today
In a tribute to the valour and sacrifice of the Indian Army and to mark 25th anniversary or Rajat Jayanti of Kargil Vijay Diwas on July 26, Jammu and Kashmir Study Centre (JKSC), Chandigarh Chapter have procured soil from Bajrang Post, the point where the Kargil War started and Lt. Saurabh Kalia was martyred along with his men after being brutally tortured as a POW.
Chandigarh, July 15, 2024: In a tribute to the valour and sacrifice of the Indian Army and to mark 25th anniversary or Rajat Jayanti of Kargil Vijay Diwas on July 26, Jammu and Kashmir Study Centre (JKSC), Chandigarh Chapter have procured soil from Bajrang Post, the point where the Kargil War started and Lt. Saurabh Kalia was martyred along with his men after being brutally tortured as a POW.
The plantation drive using some soil from the Bajrang Post was started today from Raj Bhawan Punjab, Chandigarh. Governor Banwarilal Purohit planted tree on premises along with members of JKSC Chandigarh Chapter on this occasion.
Speaking on the sidelines of the function, the Punjab Governor said that this campaign will also give a boost to the ongoing tree plantation campaign ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ (one tree for mother) launched by the Government of India under the leadership of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
Prominent members present on the occasion were Vice Chancellor Panjab University Prof. Renu Vig, Eminent Social worker Deepak Batra, Eminent Lawyer Chetan Mittal, Chairperson Law Department Panjab University Dr. Devinder Singh, Advocate Vivek Chauhan, President JKSC Chandigarh, Secretary, JKSC Chandigarh Dr. Simrit Kahlon, Executive Members JKSC Chandigarh Vijay Vaishnavi, Dr. Shivani Sharma, Jai Kumar, Rahul and Rakesh Sharma.
Jammu and Kashmir Study Centre (JKSC), Chandigarh Chapter has planned plantation drive using some soil from the Bajrang Post, poster making/slogan writing competition among students, screening of a documentary on the Kargil War and lecture by eminent decorated soldiers of Armed forces in schools and colleges of the tri-city in coming two weeks period. JKSC Chandigarh aim is to promote and entrench a feeling of love, devotion for the nation and respect for our armed forces among younger generation.
Tree Plantation was also conducted in CRPF 5D Signal HQ Hallomajra, Chandigarh. using some soil from the Bajrang Post by Vishal Kandwal Commanding Officer, Sanjay Kumar Deputy Commandant along with others, CRPF officials. Vishal Kandwal Commanding Officer 5 D Singal speaking on the occasion emphasized the role and valour of the Indian forces in maintaining unity and integrity of our Country. Kandwal also mentioned the role of CRPF in marinating peace and internal security in Bharat and appealed the youth for Joining Para Military forces and Indian Army.
In the end Vivek Chauhan, President, JKSC Chandigarh and Dr. Simrit Kahlon, Secretary, JKSC, Chandigarh thanked the Governor Punjab for supporting the initiative and briefed all present about various activities being conducted by JKSC Chandigarh throughout the year.
