Ludhiana, August 1, 2024: In an innovative idea, a play corner for children has been established at the Mother and Child Centre, Lord Mahavir Civil Hospital on Thursday.
The play corner, located on the ground floor of the building, offers a variety of toys including slides, elephant 3-way rockers, trampoline, catbear MASS, Ball Pool, Chairs, Eva Mat Big, and soft toys.
Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney, the brainchild behind the play corner at Mother and Child Centre, mentioned that it will create a relaxing and stress-reducing environment, leading to a pleasant atmosphere in the health facility. She also highlighted that playing can be used as a means of communication during children's treatment and can stimulate emotions so that children feel motivated to express themselves.
Sawhney emphasized that parents often bring their children along when visiting the doctors or meeting relatives in the hospital, which can lead to distractions. With the play corner in place, children can relax and have fun while their parents undergo medical examinations or meet their relatives. This initiative aims to make children feel as welcome as their parents in the hospital, and ensures that parents and other patients can prepare for consultations peacefully.
Sawhney also directed officials at Civil Hospital to appoint someone to supervise the children, ensuring that there are no problems while their parents are being attended to in the mother and child centre.
