Play “The Siddhus of Upper Juhu” mesmerised Ludhianvis
Ludhiana Sanskritik Samagam (LSS) on Saturday organised the 90-minute play “The Siddhus of Upper Juhu” Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan auditorium on Saturday.
Ludhiana, July 31, 2022: Ludhiana Sanskritik Samagam (LSS) on Saturday organised the 90-minute play “The Siddhus of Upper Juhu” Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan auditorium on Saturday.
The play mesmerised the jam-packed auditorium. It has already been staged in India and abroad. Surbhi Malik, Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana along with the organisers including SK Rai, JR Singal, SL Verma and Suresh Munjal lightened the lamp to start the event.
The play was first staged in Chandigarh followed which it was staged in Ludhiana yesterday. Rajit Kapur, a National Award-winning actor, was in the lead role. He got fame from the 80s Doordarshan show Byomkesh Bakshi in which he played the role of a detective.
The main character of the story is married to a Parsi woman. Due to the Punjabi and Parsi characters in the play, the dialogues of the play were spoken in Punjabi and in English.
Apart from Rajit Kapoor and Shernaz Patel was in the lead characters of the play, Kajli Sharma, Meera Khurana and Prince Kanwal enthralled the audience with their captivating performances.
The comedy-packed drama of one and a half hours enthralled the audience. The occasion became a memorable one for the audience.
This play was directed by Rahal da Cunha.
Earlier, Rajit Kapoor along with other members of the cast spoke to the media persons. In reply to a question, Rajit revealed that his birthplace is Amritsar where the play is also to be staged.
To another question, he told that there is a difference between theatre and film and the former require more discipline for an actor. He said he was a theatre artist first and then an actor in films.
He opined that theatre and other art forms should be made mandatory part of extra-curricular activities at the school level.
