Jalandhar, May 7, 2016: DAV College Jalandhar under its axiom "One World One Environment" took strict steps. Students, teachers and non-teaching staff took a vow to protect the trees every year, and fully forbade the plastic bags in the college campus. Principal Dr B B Sharma quoted "the wish for a green and Eco- friendly surroundings can only be fulfilled if we take an oath not to use plastic material anymore and strive to preserve the biosphere and ecosystem. And this can be done very nicely by the teachers, they need to teach and enlighten up their students against the harmful impact of plastic usage, and we need to encourage sustainable development so as to provide a healthy lifestyle to our future upcoming generations.

Dr. BB Sharma, Principal voiced, "College is highly conscious about its impact on Health and Sanitation and the environment. Students and staff are kept updated in this regard."Clean Campus Committee" was devised to maintain cleanliness around the complex. College originally aims to spread the three messages in society: Do not litter and do not let others litter garbage, to eliminate the use of plastic bags and forbidding sticking bills on the walls. Dr Sharma said further, I do not think only throwing garbage in the dustbin will bring back sanitation and hygiene. We also have to keep sanitation and hygiene around us. We should not use plastic bags which more than 700 students and staff members acknowledged and signed the covenant. He sighed in order to reduce acute water shortage; we also have developed water preservation and harvesting systems... which is used for water procurement. He advised the students, teachers and non teaching staff of DAV College to go for optimum utilization of water resources and eliminate wastages .The pledge against the use of plastic stated”

The Oath read “ ********I, pledge to say “NO” to plastic bags and use reusable bags whenever possible. I will keep reusable bags in my car, backpack, and purse so that I have them when I need them. By doing so, I will help to stop plastic bag pollution at the source". *******”.
