Plethora of activities to mark World Astronomy Day

Ludhiana, May 18, 2016: The advancement in modern science has brought a sea-change in human perception of the Universe. We are now humbled by this realization that we are nothing but a tiny speck in this huge expanse. To mark the World Astronomy Day; BCM Senior Secondary School Sector 32 A, organized a plethora of activities in the school premises. Students collected information about astronauts of Indian origin and prepared the collages. Students of class VIII participated in an essay writing competition on the topic “Imagining yourself travelling through space/living on another planet”. Class VII students exuberantly participated in discussion on the topic “Earth and other planets”. Students also penned down articles on “Chandra Yaan – India’s First mission to moon” and through many other activities like Power Point Presentations, Deck and Depict Competitions, learnt about multiple facets of Universe, the astronomical heritage monuments in India and how astronomy helps in improving quality of resources on Earth. The best performers in these activities were honored with certificates and appreciation.
