Ludhiana: Punjab Large Industrial Development Board (PLIDB) chairman Pawan Dewan has written a letter to Chief Minister Punjab Capt Amarinder Singh demanding the opening of small-scale industries facing economic depression due to lockdown/curfew in view of pandemic.
Dewan has appealed to the chief minister to allow to operate activities in these industrial units. He said that many small industries provide raw materials to large industries and without opening them, even those industries will not be able to function properly.
he added a large number of small-scale industrial units are located in mix-use land area. Lakhs of people earn their livelihood from these industries, which are the backbone of various industrial segments such as bicycle, bicycle parts, hosiery and textile.
He said that industries are already facing recession due to the lockdown/curfew. In such a situation, they should be given necessary concessions to bring Punjab’s development back on track. He, therefore sought rebate in electricity bills rebate or other possible measures.
