PMK presses TN govt to ban online games

Chennai, July 10 (IANS) The PMK state president, Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss has called upon the Tamil Nadu government to announce a date for the ban of online games in the state.

In a statement on Sunday, the PMK leader said that 12 days have passed since the expert committee that had looked into the adverse effects of online games had submitted its report.

He said that there were reports in the media that the state cabinet had discussed the report and had given a green signal for the ban of online games. The PMK leader pointed out that there was no response from the government after this and called upon the Chief Minister to immediately take action to ban online games.

Dr. Ramadoss said that if online games are not banned immediately it would result in loss of many lives as well as social and economic catastrophe for several families. He called upon the state government to immediately prepare an ordinance to ban online games and the state cabinet must give clearance for the same.

The PMK leader said that even murders are taking place due to online games and said that despite assurance from the Chief Minister, online games are rampant in the state. He also pointed out that even many housewives have lost their lives due to the loss of money through online gaming and wondered why the government was waiting for more days to bring out an ordinance against online games.
