PM’s speech lacks any substantive steps: IDPD
Corona Virus infection cannot be managed by lighting diyas, candles or mobiles
Ludhiana: The Indian Doctors for Peace and Development ((IDPD) has expressed utter disappointment at the address to the nation by the Prime Minister today. The Prime Minister did not utter a word about the facilities to the medical personnel which are necessary to save the lives of the people and also for personal protection for the medical staff. Doctors, nurses paramedical staff and the cleaning workers are doing their work very hard putting their own lives at risk to prevent the spread of infection of corona virus and to save the sick people. But they lack the necessary equipment which can have extremely serious impact if there is a sudden surge in the infection.
In the statement Dr Arun Mitra, Senior Vice President and Dr Shakeel Ur Rahman General Secretary said that it is unfortunate that neither did he utter a word about the nutrition to the poor people nor about their problems which they are facing as a result of lock down. His appeal to the people to put off lights on 5th April at 9 pm and light the candles diyas and mobiles has nothing to do in preventing spread of Corona infection or its management. The virus is not killed by such gimmicks nor by beating thaalis, beating ghantis or sounding Shankhs. Prime Minister's speech has no scientific or medical basis at all. It is very unfortunate that in this time of extreme crisis such gimmicks are being told to do people to win over them through emotions and hide their own failures.
