Police arrest one for helping Anil Arora booked in hurting religious sentiments case
Accused Umesh Gandhi gave Rs one lakh to Arora
Ludhiana, November 8, 2021: The Commissionerate Police on Monday have arrested Umesh Kumar Gandhi of New Guru Nanak Nagar, Mundian Kalan for sheltering Hindu outfit leader Anil Arora absconding in a case of hurting religious sentiments.
Disclosing further details, Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that Gandhi had given Rs one lakh to Arora by withdrawing the amount from his own bank account when the former was booked in the same case. He said that on Gandhi’s revelations, a police team has also seized Rs 10 lakh from a black bag hidden in relative’s house at Una.
Commissioner of Police added that a case under Sections 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) and 153-A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc., and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony) of the Indian Penal Code was registered against the accused at Division Number 3 police station on October 20 against Arora and seven accused persons have already been arrested in this case.
Bhullar said that a detailed investigation is underway and hoped that main accused Anil Arora would be arrested soon as many teams of Commissionerate police are behind him.
