Police instruct Dharamshala hoteliers to remain extra vigil

Dharamshala, April 22, 2019: In the midst of the ongoing Lok Sabha election in India, tourist season in Himachal Pradesh and the 8 bomb blasts in Sri Lanka on Sunday, the District Police Administration has given strict directions to the hotels businessmen of Dharmashala, McLeodganj and surrounding areas to keep alert and vigilant all the time.

DIG police Santosh Patial held a meeting with Hoteliers in SP Office in Dharamshala on Monday. Patial instructed the hoteliers of this tourist station to keep extra vigilant while recruiting the hotel staff and during the checking in of the guests. Patial said, “You (hoteliers) must keep the authorised and correct documents of staff and the guests and if any suspicious activity is reported, it must be informed to the police immediately via telephone number 112 or through nearest police post.”

DIG also instructed the hotel owners to immediate installing of high-definition cameras in hotels. The direction of the cameras must be kept correct to have clear view of inside and the outside activities of the hotel. “Keep a complete record of the guests staying in the hotel and their in and out movements and the verification of the employees working in the hotel,” instructed DIG.

About 150 hoteliers attend the meeting.
