Political parties are leveraging social media platforms extensively to connect with voter
Due to the revolution in Information Technology and High-Tech Social Media, political parties now have access to new techniques such as mobile apps, Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook, and Twitter to conduct their political campaigns and appeal to voters. Despite these advancements, political parties continue to engage in traditional methods like roadshows and direct door-to-door interactions with voters, led by party members who highlight past achievements and future agendas. The issue of offering freebies has also emerged as a priority for voters, who evaluate which political party promises the most benefits over the next five years.
Although high-tech facilities are available, political parties are increasingly active on social media platforms such as the internet, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. They are utilizing these platforms to upload their policies and engage with voters. In the past, print media, radio, and television were the primary sources for election campaigning. However, with the rise of use of the mobiles, particularly smartphones like iPhones, information is now readily accessible on mobile devices, driving political campaigning towards a more high-tech direction.
With the widespread availability and affordability of social media, it has become a powerful tool for election campaigning, reaching a large audience of mobile users. Political parties are leveraging social media platforms extensively to connect with voters, making it a cornerstone of contemporary political campaigning.
