POLLING STAFF TO EXERCISE THEIR FRANCHISE THROUGH EDC AND POSTAL BALLOT PAPERS: DEPUTY COMMISSIONER
Ferozepur, May 7, 2019: In order to ease polling staff to exercise their franchise, the deputy commissioner cum district election officer Mr.Chander Gaind on tuesday oversee the ongoing arrangements for issuing of Election Duty Certificate (EDC) and Postal Ballot Papers to the polling staff. Presiding over a meeting at district administrative complex with AROs of the parliamentary constituency, Mr.Gaind asked officials to make foolproof arrangements to enable government employees placed at election duty to cast their votes. The deputy commissioner said that the polling staff will get to utilize their voting right through election duty certificate and postal ballot. Divulging the details, he said that on the day of second rehearsal i.e. may 12, application forms for issuing a postal ballot or election duty certificate will be distributed among poll staff. After collecting the filled application duly signed by the applicant, it will be sent to the concerned AROs, he added. He further said that after receiving the application forms, the AROs will prepare EDC and Paper Ballot, which then will be distributed among polling staff on the day of third rehearsal i.e. may 15. Polling staff of Ferozepur district placed within the parliamentary constituency will cast their vote through EDC by depositing it on their respective polling booths, whereas staff deployed in other constituencies will exercise their franchise through Paper Ballot, said the deputy commissioner. The polling staff can either submit their paper ballot to the facilitation center established at district level or send it through postal service to the office of office of returning officer 10 Ferozepur parliamentary constituency, at the address Room No 111, DC Complex Ferozepur, remarked deputy commissioner. After receiving all the EDC and Paper Ballots, it will be sent to counting centers before the counting day i.e. may 23, so that these votes can be included in the general votes. There are around 18,000 employees from civil administration and police department have been inducted to election duty in the parliamentary constituency, who would use their voting right as service voters. Reiterating district administration commitment to provide every voter an ease of voting, the deputy commissioner said that the district administration would leave no stone unturned to facilitate voters in order to make them enable to cast their votes be it general voters or service voters. He exhorted the voters of Ferozepur district to come forward on the poll day i.e. may 19 and cast their votes in huge number to make ferozepur district a leading district in high poll percentage. On the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr. Ravinder Pal Singh Sandhu, SDM Mr. Amit Gupta, SDM Mr. Keshav Goyal, Tehsildar Election Mr. Chaand Parkash and other were present.
