Punjab Pradesh Beopar Mandal (PPBM) has strongly condemned the steep rise in the parking fee at the parking sites of Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana (MCL) with effect from November 1 this year.
Ludhiana, November 4, 2022: Punjab Pradesh Beopar Mandal (PPBM) has strongly condemned the steep rise in the parking fee at the parking sites of Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana (MCL) with effect from November 1 this year.
The PPBM state general secretary Sunil Mehra, district president Arvinder Singh Makkar and district general secretary Ayush Aggarwal said this rise is four to five times high compared to the previous rates. As a result, an acute additional economic burden has been put on people specially traders and shopkeepers.
They said MCL has handed over six parking sites to contractors and introduced hourly rates at various locations including MC Zone A, Feroze Gandhi Market and Model Town. These inflated rates are unbearable for everyone, they said, adding that MCL has handed over these sites after charging a low price from contractor but contractors have been allowed to charge at a higher rate from public.
Further, they pointed out that these parking sites are being compared with that of in the city malls whereas basic facilities such as proper flooring, lighting and staff etc lack in these parking sites.
They said the PPBM will be submitting a memorandum to this effect to DC Ludhiana, MC Commissioner and Mayor soon.
