"Practical Session on Yoga" Conducted at Mechanical Engineering Department, UIET, Panjab University

Chandigarh, February 25, 2025: The Mechanical Engineering Department of UIET, Panjab University, Chandigarh, today organised a "Practical Session on Yoga" for its students, fostering a holistic approach to learning beyond the conventional engineering syllabus. The event aimed to enhance students' well-being and mindfulness through the practice of yoga.
The workshop featured Yogacharya Dr. Balvinder Kumar as the resource person, who conducted an engaging hands-on session for an hour. Assisting in the demonstration was Volunteer Muskaan, while Organising Volunteer Pooja played a key role in the smooth execution of the event.
Director UIET, Prof. Sanjeev Puri, commended the Mechanical Engineering Department for its collaborative efforts with other departments and centres of Panjab University. He highlighted how such interdisciplinary interactions create valuable learning opportunities for students, promoting their overall development.
The "Practical Session on Yoga" successfully enriched students with practical insights into yoga, helping them understand the importance of physical and mental well-being alongside their rigorous engineering education. The event concluded on a high note, leaving students motivated to integrate yoga into their daily lives for better health and productivity.
The session was coordinated by Prof. Shivani Sharma from Swami Vivekananda Centre and Prof. Shankar Sehgal, Coordinator Mechanical Engineering Department, UIET. Prof. Sehgal welcomed the attendees and emphasised the significance of acquiring knowledge beyond the academic curriculum to ensure a well-rounded education.
