Preneet Kaur starts distribution of tool kits among the 111 members of self-help groups to promote self-employment

Former Union Minister and Member Lok Sabha Mrs. Preneet Kaur reiterated that Captain Amarinder Singh led Punjab Government has fulfilled its commitment for the welfare of all the sections of the state.  

      While starting the symbolic distribution of tool kits among the 111 members of self help groups of the district, she said that the department of Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities had chosen the members of SHGs, belonging to Scheduled Castes and having Vocational Education to help them in starting self employment. She handed over five kits to the members of various SHGs, present on this ocassion.

        Mrs. Preneet Kaur further said that this initiative has been taken by the Punjab Government to set up self employment ventures for the Scheduled Caste beneficiaries under the Special Central Assistance Scheme.  The MP said that there were about 3200 SHGs in the district, through which the living standards of the rural women had been improved towards prosperity and this move was aimed at strengthening the financial status of members of these groups.  She said that the beneficiaries were being identified by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) to nurture the sense of economic independence among them by providing these tool kits.

      Mrs Preneet Kaur said that these kits include agricultural related spray pumps, tool kits for puncture and air compressors, sewing and embroidery machines, electrician kits, car AC  including washer, knitting and crocheting, fast food oven, beauty parlor kit, juicer mixer, guarding kit for Krishi Sakhi and weeder/brush cutter.

       Interacting with the beneficiaries, the Lok Sabha member said that they should use the latest technology and social media platforms to sell their products in the world market so that their products could fetch handsome profit. She further said that as per the need of the hour, such products should be manufactured which represent our heritage and also up to date with modern times.

        Prominent amongst others who were present on the occasion included Biba Jai Inder Kaur, State Information Commissioner, Amrit Pratap Singh (Honey) Sekhon, Deputy Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Mr Rajesh Sharma, Private Secretary Balwinder Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Pooja Sayal Grewal, District Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Officer,  Sukh Sagar Singh and District Program Manager Reena Rani.
