Princeton University Professors Visit Panjab University under the India-HSF Project

Chandigarh, March 20, 2025: As part of the India-HSF (India-High Energy and Software Framework) project, Princeton University, USA, Professors David Lange and Peter Elmer, today visited Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh.

The primary objective of the India-HSF project is to foster a robust software research collaboration aimed at addressing the future requirements of Particle, Nuclear, and Astrophysics experiments.

The Princeton University Professors also interacted with Panjab University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Renu Vig. While extending her support for the initiative, Prof. Vig encouraged the group to continue strengthening the collaboration, highlighting its mutual benefits for both institutions and its role in promoting student development. ‘The India-HSF project offers an exceptional opportunity for our students and faculty to engage in cutting-edge research while enhancing academic excellence through collaboration with global institutions like Princeton University’, she added.

During the visit, Prof. David Lange and Prof. Peter Elmer delivered an engaging lecture at the University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), where they shared insights into the field of research and its potential to shape the future of scientific experimentation. They also interacted with UIET's engineering students and faculty, sparking interest and motivating them to consider getting involved in the India-HSF project for both short-term and long-term research opportunities.

The UIET students expressed their excitement about the possibility of participating in cutting-edge research within the domain of Particle, Nuclear, and Astrophysics. The potential to gain valuable hands-on experience in collaboration with such prestigious institutions offered them a glimpse into the future of scientific innovation.

The event was organised by the UIET’s Department of Applied Sciences under the guidance of Prof. Sanjeev Puri, Director of UIET, Prof. Shuchi Gupta, Coordinator of the Department of Applied Sciences, and Dr. Sunil Bansal, Organising Secretary.
