PRINCIPAL SECRETARY held special meeting with CICU

Ludhiana, February 20, 2013: A special meeting of Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU), Ludhiana delegation comprising of was held under the chariamnship of Karan Avtar Singh, Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce alongwith his team consisting of Vikas Partap Singh, Director of Industries, Punjab M.P. Arora, Managing Director, PSIEC, S P Singh, Chief General Manage (Estate – PSIEC) and other officials.

CICU delegation was comprised of Avtar Singh, General Secretary, Upkar Singh Ahuja, Joint Secretary, Manjit Singh Khalsa, Chairman, Development Council, Focal Point, Ludhiana, S C Rehlan, Joga Singh, Kulwinder Singh Benipal and Ajit Singla.

Karan Avtar Singh assured the CICU Delegation that Punjab Government is committed to provide need based assistance for the growth, development and uplifting of Industrial Sector.  A separate policy for providing permanent solution of red category, small scale units especially; zinc and electroplating operating in mix-land use areas at different locations in Ludhiana is under consideration.  Formation of Exhibition Centre on modern line for Industry use at Ludhiana is also being considered.  He announced formation of different committees for making suitable recommendations pertaining to blocks of land in Focal Point, Ludhiana already acquired by Department of Industries, Punjab for development and allotment to entrepreneurs, removal of discrepancy especially transfer of 80 industrial plots where units are already operating in area called Strip Land within Phase-V, Focal Point, Ludhiana, provision of warehousing facility and execution of sale deeds of remaining freehold allotted plots at allotment price.

Principal Secretary issued direction to PSIEC for allotment of un-allotted and un-utilised plots to needy entrepreneurs, identification of suitable location for providing separate parking for truck and heavy vehicles in Focal Point, completion of assigned roads under construction, up-gradation of sewerage lines wherever required and identification of parks and green belts, already handed over to Municipal Corporation for their development and renovation to industrial associations and industry houses.  He assured the delegates for providing support in creating friendly atmosphere for the smooth running, growth and development of industrial sector.  Punjab Government is keenly interested to adopt measures which will take industry in Punjab into new orbit of development and growth.
