Amarinder Singh, Minister Higher Education Mr. Tript Rajendra Singh Bajwa and Secretary Higher Education Punjab. An apprehension was also raised that this could lead to a decline in the student enrollment in all the three state universities and the colleges affiliated to them as this decision of common admission portal was applicable to the state universities and government and aided colleges and the colleges affiliated to them. They demanded this decision be applicable to all the universities whether state or private. The principals were also apprehensive that students from rural background might not be able to enroll themselves successfully the online portal as they were not very much familiar with the technology. Additionally, going to cyber cafe etc for enrollment process could also result in health risk for the students. So it was demanded from the state government to withhold this decision. It was proposed that the government should allow sufficient time to the universities to prepare for this move.
