Private hospitals should continue their services else face action: DC Ludhiana

Ludhiana: Deputy Commissioner Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal have today warned the private hospitals that if they failed to provide medical services to the patients, then strict action would be taken against them. He said that clear instructions in this regard have been issued by the Punjab government stating that no hospital can refuse treatment to patients.
    In view of the curfew/lockdown, the Deputy Commissioner appreciated the support provided by the residents, and said that residents of some Mohalla’s and Basti’s still roam on the streets, which is completely wrong. He appealed to such persons in public interest that they should support the District Administration and Punjab government by staying indoors. He warned of strict action against the people violating the directions.
    The Deputy Commissioner informed that the total number of patients of COVID 19 in the district has reached seven, out of which one patient is related to Jalandhar. He informed that out of 384 samples, results of 329 have been received and 322 samples are negative while reports of seven samples are awaited. He informed that the samples of two persons associated with the Tamlighi Jamaat have come out positive.
    Mr Agrawal informed that in view of the upcoming wheat harvesting season, the District Administration have started their preparations in this regard. He said that all officials have been directed to complete the entire harvesting process in a planned manner.
    He also warned of strict action against any person spreading rumours or fake news on social media. In view of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID 19), some unscrupulous elements are spreading false news & rumours on social media. As such acts cause panic amongst the masses, they would not be tolerated. He said that strict action would be taken against such persons and urged the residents not to share unverified information on any of the social media platforms.
    He assured the residents that the situation is completely under control. He said that people should stay indoors and follow all directions of the Punjab government.
