Dharamshala, May 27, 2024: Congress National General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi addressed public meetings in Chamba's Chaugan and Kangra's Chambi in support of Congress candidate from Kangra-Chamba Lok Sabha constituency and former Union Minister Anand Sharma.

She emphasized that India's two major political parties, Congress and BJP, are facing off in the Lok Sabha and Legislative Assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh, and the truth about each party is now evident to the public.

Priyanka highlighted the devastation caused by a major natural disaster in Himachal over the past two years, resulting in significant loss of life and property. She praised the Congress government's response, noting that from the Chief Minister to grassroots workers, everyone worked tirelessly to serve the people. However, she criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who considers Himachal his second home, for not visiting the state even once during the disaster. She also pointed out that prominent BJP leaders from Himachal were absent during this critical time, revealing the true nature of the BJP compared to the Congress.

In her speech, Priyanka also condemned the BJP's attempts to topple the elected state government by offering large sums of money to MLAs. She accused the Prime Minister of undermining democracy by enabling such actions. She stressed that democracy is being eroded by financial power, and there are even discussions about altering the constitution.

Priyanka expressed her deep connection to Himachal, noting the region's educated, skilled, and honest population. She praised the state's culture, simplicity, and integrity, suggesting that the entire country could learn from Himachal's way of life.

She underscored the importance of understanding the true meaning behind calling Himachal the "Land of Gods and Heroes." This title reflects the state's tradition, culture, and natural beauty, as well as its history of mothers sending their sons to protect the country. Hundreds of heroes from Himachal have sacrificed their lives for national security.

Priyanka voiced her confidence that the people of Himachal would not want a dishonest or disrespectful government. She reminded voters that they chose the current state government for change, supporting a new kind of politics. Criticizing PM Modi, she argued that while he asks for votes in the name of gods, he attempted to destabilize the elected government with financial power. She contrasted the BJP's wealth with Congress, noting that despite being in power for 50 years, Congress never became the richest political party of the world, whereas the BJP achieved this status in just ten years. She questioned the BJP's spending of Rs 7,000 crore on its own party over the past two years and demanded transparency about the source of such funds.

Priyanka concluded by urging the people of Himachal to vote wisely in the upcoming elections, which include both Lok Sabha and six important by-elections for the Himachal Assembly. She called for support for Anand Sharma and the Congress party to ensure a government that is honest, truthful, and respectful towards the people.

At the conclusion, Priyanka said that the Agniveer scheme will be scrapped and she also highlighted all the guarantees announced by Congress to come to power in the centre.
